Adaptive Educational Strategies for Creative Fields in the AI Era
Notes from the 17th annual International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation (ICERI2024)
Over the past two decades, southern Spain has quietly transformed into the epicenter of educational innovation and technological advancement in teaching and learning. This emergence isn't accidental – it's been shaped by three pivotal annual conferences that consistently bring together the world's leading voices in education:
The International Conference on Education, Research and Innovation (ICERI) in Seville
The International Technology, Education and Development Conference (INTED) in Valencia
The International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies (EDULEARN) in Palma de Mallorca
What makes these gatherings particularly significant isn't just their academic content but their unique combination of location and community. These conferences unfold in some of the world's most culturally rich settings, creating an environment where innovative thinking naturally flourishes. And the warmth of both the Spanish climate and the conference attendees creates an atmosphere conducive to open dialogue and collaborative thinking.
Having just returned from this year's ICERI conference, I was particularly struck by the numerous presentations on AI in education. What stood out was a generally very positive approach to AI integration in teaching and learning. Rather than dwelling on potential concerns or limitations, presenters and attendees alike approached AI as a valuable educational tool, focusing on its practical applications and benefits. This direct embrace of AI's potential in education was refreshing and productive. The innovative applications and thoughtful integrations demonstrated by my colleagues will undoubtedly influence my own work and thinking for years to come.
For those unable to attend this year's conference, I've recorded my presentation about “Adaptive Educational Strategies for Creative Fields in the AI Era” and made it available below. As always, I welcome your questions and thoughts, either in the comments below or through contacting me directly.
